FAQs
Local Locker is a peer-to-peer rental marketplace that connects people who need items with local owners who have them.
Simply search for what you need, choose an available listing, and submit your rental request. You can communicate with the owner to arrange pickup or delivery and return the item when your rental ends.
Have items sitting unused? List them for free, set your own price and availability, choose whether to offer pickup or delivery, and earn money each time they’re rented.
Local Locker makes it easy to save money, avoid buying things you’ll rarely use, and earn extra cash from items you already own.
Anyone with useful items they’re not using can list on Local Locker! Whether you’re an individual, family, small business, or rental provider, you can create listings for free, set your own prices and availability, and choose whether renters pick up the items or you offer delivery.
From sports and travel gear to tools, outdoor equipment, baby items, party supplies, and more—if someone nearby could use it, you can list it.
To help keep the Local Locker community safe, both renters and lenders are required to verify their identity through our secure verification process. Users must submit a valid government-issued photo ID along with a current photo of themselves.
This allows Local Locker to confirm that users are who they say they are before they rent or list items. Verification helps build trust, discourage fraudulent activity, and create a safer experience for everyone using the platform.
All rental payments are made securely within the Local Locker app. Renters pay through the app when booking an item, so there is no need to exchange cash or arrange payment separately.
Lenders connect their bank account through Stripe, our secure payment-processing provider. After a rental is completed, the lender can use the Withdraw Funds feature in the app to transfer their available earnings to their connected bank account.
Local Locker does not recommend making or accepting payments outside the app, as off-platform transactions may not be eligible for Local Locker support or protection.
Before-and-after photos are required for every rental to document the item’s condition at pickup or delivery and when it is returned.
Lenders may also require a security deposit, which may be used to cover eligible damage or loss. If an item is returned damaged or is not returned, either party can submit a claim. Both the renter and lender will have an opportunity to provide a statement and supporting information.
The Local Locker support team will review the before-and-after photos, statements, and other available evidence to reach a fair resolution in accordance with Local Locker’s policies. Normal wear and tear is not considered damage.
